What is SpyFu?

SpyFu, originally GoogSpy, is an SEO and PPC platform that allows you to analyze your competitor’s most profitable keywords and ads.

Not only that, but you also get reports on cost per click and search volume statistics on keywords. This data allows the platform to estimate how much your competitors are spending on advertising.

All that you have to do is search up the domain within their platform, and you get all of the data and reports that you need.

Not to mention, the UI makes the experience so much better. Everything is clean and the data is easy to look at.

Made for individual starting-up businesses to large teams.

What’s in it for You?

Office Meeting

SpyFu allows you to incorporate what works into your business.

You can see what competitors use to improve their SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and SEO (Search Engine Optimization), and you can use those techniques against them to get ahead in the business world.

How Reliable is SpyFu?

The way that SpyFu gets the data that it provides to its users is through web scrapping.

Web scraping is extracting data from a website.

The accuracy and how reliable the data is, especially with how much the competitor is spending on advertising, will be dependant on the size of the website and how long it has been up.

A website that has been up for a year will not have as accurate data as a website that has been up for 10 years.

Although, all data within SpyFu is refreshed monthly.

How Much Does SpyFu Cost?

SpyFu offers 3 different paid plans. They do not offer a free trial, but there is a free version you can try.

The good thing is that across all of the plans, you get unlimited access to all of SpyFu’s data.

The first paid plan is the Basic plan. For $33 per month with the annual plan and $39 per month with the monthly plan at the time of writing this, you get…

  • Unlimited search results, data exports, and domain overviews
  • 250 sales leads & domain contacts
  • 5k weekly tracked keyword rankings
  • 10k top list results

The second paid plan is the Professional plan. For $58 per month with the annual plan and $78 per month (The first month is $39) with the monthly plan at the time of writing this, you get everything from the Basic plan and…

  • 500 sales leads & domain contacts
  • 15k weekly tracked keyword rankings

  • 10k API rows returned
  • Custom branded reporting

The third paid plan is the Team plan. For $199 per month with the annual plan and $299 per month with the monthly plan at the time of writing this, you get everything from the previous two plans and…

  • 2000 sales leads & domain contacts
  • 40k weekly tracked keyword rankings
  • 75k top list results
  • 5 user logins

Thanks for the great review! I am always in the market for SEO tools. Having a good SEO tool is important for any website owner who wants to get ahead of their competition. I like that you said Spyfu is easy to navigate. That would be great for someone who is new to SEO. You did mention a free version you can try, is it for a certain amount of attempts or a certain amount of days that you can use it?

    Joseph Chunta · May 23, 2020 at 3:14 pm

    Hello Melissa.

As to do with the free account, you are capped by a daily search limit. So you can only use certain features a set number of times per day. As long as you can deal with that, you can use the free version. But all of the paid plans remove that search limit cap completely.

I hope this answered everything and thank you for sharing!

That was very easy to take in, this was very well done, bravo.

Interesting review on SpyFu. I think that what many people miss when it comes to SEO, is the fact that just writing a good quality post (like this one) is a real winner. After all, even if you use SpyFu and know what keywords competing businesses are leveraging, what good does it do you if you write trash blog articles?

Nice job.

    Hello Rob.

I do agree that somethings like SpyFu won’t help much if you are writing articles that don’t help your audience. I have another article on 7 Things that may be hurting your SEO, and writing Low-quality content is part of that list. Give it a read if you are interested.

I’ll be honest with you, never really paid much attention to SpyFu in all the years I’ve been in digital marketing, but now that I’ve read this I will check it out! If anything just to see how it compares with previous tools that I’ve been using. Who knows, maybe I’ll even write a review about it!
