You want to do blogging full-time, right?

You want to sit on your couch and just typing words are enough to make a living.

Although, you might not know how to monetize your content.

Today, I will walk you through 7 methods of making money on your blog.

Sell Memberships/Subscriptions

Some websites do this, and it generates a lot of passive income for the writer/website.

This is just simply charging a recurring fee to allow your visitors to read your content.

Not only good for passive income but predictable income.

Other methods like affiliate marketing purely depend on how good your review is and how many people see it.

When you are selling a subscription or membership, you get a more stable income, no matter how many people see your articles.

Selling Products

E-commerce can be a scary field to get into if you are unfamiliar with it.

Although, there are many sites that you can use to make the process so much simpler.

Take Teespring for example.

All that you need to do is design the article of clothing with an image or some text, and Teespring will do the rest.

They will distribute the clothing, handle customer service, and manage payouts.

What I’m trying to say is that there are alternatives if you don’t have the time, money, or resources to run your product line.

Ads

Most people underestimate the power of ads and their earning potential.

You can expect that the average ad will get you $0.58 per click.

This may not sound like a lot, but doing simple math, you can determine your estimated income from ads.

What you need is to take that average profit per click, multiply it by your average monthly visitors, and then multiply it by your CTR.

If you don’t know, a CTR is Clickthrough rate, which is the percentage of people that click on the ad when it is displayed.

You can expect the average of a CTR to be 2%. Although, there are steps you can take to increase your CTR.

This is what the equation looks like

Average profit per click * Average monthly visitors * Your CTR = Monthly income from ads

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is an income stream that you can live off of by itself if done correctly.

If you don’t know, affiliate marketing is where you, the affiliate, promote products with a special tracking code. If someone makes a purchase through your link that contains the special tracking code, you get a percentage of that purchase from the seller of that product or service you are promoting.

Affiliate marketing gives the company that you are promoting free promotion, and you are getting paid to do it.

It is a really simple business model.

All that you have to do is promote the special link, and if someone buys the product you are promoting, you get paid.

Writing Sponsored Posts

As your blog grows, you should expect to get what are called “sponsored posts”.

This is when a company pays you to write an article about, more than likely, their company.

How much you will get paid is up to the company that reaches out to you, and there will be guidelines that need to be followed to avoid trouble between you and the company.

Sponsored posts may be rare as you are beginning with your blog, yet as time goes on, you should expect companies in relevant niches to your blog might reach out to you.

Host An Online Course/Provide Coaching

If you have a skill set that you excel in, and you can teach others that skill, then you should sell an online course or providing coaching.

This is good for people that want to learn the skill instead of having someone else do it every time, and would pay to learn it.

Take Udemy for example, you can create the course once and have the selling do itself.

Or you can set up in-person or over-the-phone meetings.

Offering Services

This can go along with both selling memberships and products.

Yet there are different ways of doing this.

You could create a service that you could sell for a recurring price, or you could offer your skillset as a service for a price.

If you wanted to offer your skillset, you should do it on Fiverr.

It’s more than likely that if you are reading this, you are running a blog, and what you can do is get paid to write articles for others.

Hi! Thanks for all the info – you made it simple to understand to this newbie. As a newbie to this business model, I still have lots to learn. Do you recommend to try it all? Or which one would be the easiest to start off with? Thank you and much success to you!

    Hello Dana.

All of the ones that I have listed here are pretty much the easiest ways to monetize your content out of the many other methods of doing so. If you want the easiest, it would be Affiliate Marketing. Simply because all it takes is a sign up into their program and you’re in.

I would definitely recommend trying them all and experimenting with what works best for you, but these other ones may take more time to set up than affiliate marketing depending on what you are doing. Some of the methods that I have listed here can be done through plugins (if you use WordPress) or external websites (like Fiverr, Udemy, or Teespring)

    I hope this answered everything!
